Webgeekery

This site is a perfect example of but a few of my capabilities as a webgeek.  This site is built upon the Joomla Content Management package, with many extensions and modifications.

Since the mid 1990s, I have always had a webhosting account somewhere, and since 2003, I have had my own domain, ka1kjz.com.  This has always served me well, but I always wanted to be able to do more.  I also found traditional hosts to be restrictive.  Send them alot of traffic suddenly, and you can find yourself throttled or shut off completely.

Genealogy Now Online!

I've gotten phpgedview working finally and uploaded my latest gedcom file for your viewing pleasure.  I have been working on the Barnes / Doucette family history since high school.  Back in the early 1980s, genealogical research had to be done the "old fashioned" way, sitting in libraries, writing for records and spending time with reels of microfilm.  With the advent of the internet and sites like Ancestry.com and the Mormon Church, great strides can be accomplished with little effort.  One still needs to know what they are looking at and if a record found is correct or wild speculation.
